Inspired by a line
Did you ever hear a line of a song that really means a lot to you in some way? I think that words and the meanings that we ascribe to them can be so powerful when arranged with special thought and care. Lyrics to a song can say things in amazing ways. Here are a some lines that have meant a lot to me.
when I say I'm living with an angel that's you
I need you to give it meaning
I need you to share the view
I know our filthy hands can wash one anothers
And not one speck will remain
-Death Cab For Cutie
It has to start somewhere,
It has to start sometime.
What better place than here,
What better time than now?
-Rage Against the Machine
I'll be where I've always been
I'll be here for you
-Robert Earl Keen
to accept the view that mankind is so tragically
the starless midnight of racism and war.
-One Win Choice
I don't mind if your halo don't glow like it used to glow
I don't want to find out that I've wasted
my only chance to make a difference...
Don't want to waste my life, waiting for a moment,
I'm not gonna wait until it's over.
I can't remember all the times I tried to tell myself
To hold on to these moments as they pass
This is my reason
You are my reason to stay
I have shed this dry hard shell
Traded its comfort for your eyes
Played with denial
And then denied my own defenses
-Boy Sets Fire
Half of the time we're gone but we don't know where,
And we don't know here.
-Simon and Garfunkel
I knew that you were a truth I would rather lose
than to have never lain beside at all
-Death Cab For Cutie
I don't wanna sing about freedom anymore.
I wanna see it! I wanna feel it!
I wanna know that it still sits beyond the lies that we've been told
beyond the wars that keep our families from home,
I know that there's a way.
Dear God, let there be a way
to change the path we're on
and believe in a better day.
-Boy Sets Fire
The angels get a better view
Of the crumbling difference between wrong and right.
Beneath the dust and love and sweat that hangs on everybody
There's a dead man trying to get out
Say I'm a fool,
Say I'm not for you.
But if I'm a fool for you,
Will you come with me
And we'll be ourselves,
And we'll walk into the light
And you can colour yourself
In golden wings
What are some lyrics that have inspired you or meant a lot to you in some way?

Fill me in on when you became such a big part of my life
That i should bother with all your lies designed to bring me down
-Boy Sets Fire
(I could go on and on with the BSF lyrics that have touched me and changed me in some way but I'll try and keep it limited.)
It's the pain that we share, lets us know we're alive
While the world goes insane, we just try to survive
Always setting examples and biding our time till we die
-Boy Sets Fire (this song really was a good one...I'm sorry about the circumstances that got it released however.)
so pride yourself on what you are,
and hold them all to words they can't take back,
I've seen a place (it comes) to me in dreams
where fires die but light still shines for us to see
Don’t hold me up now,
I can stand my own ground,
I don’t need your help now,
You will let me down, down, down!
Who the f*ck are you to tell me whos I am? You don't believe in anything, at least I take a stand. You think I should grow up but I think I already have, I'll succeed on my own terms, I'll take what I can grab.
There is no future, there is no past, I live this moment as my last. There's only us, there's only this, forget regret or life is yours to miss. No other road, no other way, no day but today
But you know I have to state something here. Its amazing to think back at all the songs I've listened to and realize just how many songs quotes go through my head. I could go on and on with song quotes that have had some impact on me. Well I guess I will end the list there but wow it really could go on and on.

"I don't need no one to tell me about heaven
I look at my daughter, and I believe.
I don't need no proof when it comes to God and truth. I can see the sunset and I perceive..."
~Heaven, by Live
And from my current favorite song:
"Freedom has a scent
Like the top of a new born baby's head...
Beneath the noise, Below the din
I hear a voice, It's whispering
In science and in medicine
'I was a stranger, You took me in'"
~Miracle Drug, by U2

Oh, and I forgot to mention:
"Whatever makes your heart beat
Whatever makes you dream
Whatever is a mystery
Whatever makes you sing
Wherever this road leads
And whatever we may find
I want to know you" :)

'with every lesson learned, a line upon your beautiful face...'

One powerful lyric that came to mind instantly (and I don't have time to write anymore...):
"Deep within I'm frightened by the violence of existing for only you..." Sarah McLachlan

This Copeland song inspires me:
"Well if you would shine your love down here,
Make our hearts as perfect as new;
Oh if you would shine your love down here-
I promise I'd reflect right back at you"

"Hope Will Provide" - BSF
"Take me out of a world without any heart" - have heart
"I don’t see the world as a half empty glass. I don’t know enough to be a pessimist. I believe in the potential of the human heart. Every day I resolve to make a new start" - Mike V and the Rats
"If we don’t have each other, Then we have nothing left ...Nothing breaks us apart,Nothing makes us crack, And the harder we get pushed
Is the harder we push back" - Betrayed

"Istanbul was Constantinople
Now it's Istanbul, not Constantinople
Been a long time gone, Constantinople
Why did Constantinople get the works
That's nobody's business but the Turks"
They Might Be Giants
Change can be a good thing,
no matter what you think,
so just go with the flow,
and you will see,
things fall in place in their due time.

Well done Drew, although I prefer
"Particle man, particle man
Doing the things a particle can
What's he like? It's not important
Is he a dot, or is he a speck?
When he's underwater does he get wet?
Or does the water get him instead?
Nobody knows, Particle man"

One night to be confused
One night to speed up truth
We had a promise made
four hands and then away
To call for hands of above
to lean on
Wouldn't be good enough
for me, no
Heart beasts ~ Jose Gonzalez

Amazing!, it was a premier excellent post. In theory I would like to publish like that too - taking time and legitimate effort to make a fine short article... yet unfortunately what can I say... I waste time a whole lot rather than seem to get something concluded
