Johann Underwald was a Swiss mathematician. He was one of the brightest stars in his field, and was described by his peers as "the next Albert Einstein."
Underwald died in October of 1999. Cause of death: mathematical error - Underwald "made a 250-foot bungee jump with a 300-foot bungee cord, and died immediately on impact."

completely unrelated...

have you ever gotten a flat tire?
or caught a turtle?

i love doing both of those things...

Those MAC vs. PC Commercials

My friend Matt sent me this picture. I enjoyed it, so I thought I'd share it with you. PC is finally fed up with all the dissing.
p.s. It's only funny if you are familiar with the MAC add campaign.

Merry Christmas, Everybody. Enjoy the heck out of it!

Toby, Ian, and the Fat Kid (me)

Did your older brother or sister ever have awesome friends that just they wouldn't 'share' with you?

Ian and his friends (Especially Toby) would always run away from me. I'd be following them arund and they'd say, "Wow, look over there!" As I turned and looked, they would split. They ran down the hill, Toby in his cape and Ian in his super flannel, and I sitting dejectedly in the sand box.

I would always look when they told me. You would think that I would have caught on, but there was always the off-chance that something totally awesome really was behind me, and I didn't want to stubbbornly sit there without batting an eye as Toby and Ian watched a sasquatch or the Loch Ness Monster steal through the woods behind me. So, I always looked, and was always disappointed.

Toby and I worked at the same camp for two or three summers. By this time I was old enough that it was not imperative to run away from me. During breaks, we would play or record music together. It was awesome.

Toby is one of the best pianists I know, He always has been.

You can listen to some of his newer music at his myspace page.

Thanks, Toby for the music and memories.

the Optus Tennis Challenge

My grandad e-mailed me a while ago and gave me the link to this game.

Here it is.

I tell ya, this game is strangely addicting.

What high score can you get?
Do you think that there is strategy to such a simple game?

p.s. our myspace page now has almost 10,000 views. (9988 to be exact.)

Funny GIFs

As most of you know, Jason and I work together. Because we do graphic design, we are on computers all day every day. When you spend that much time online, you tend to run across some interesting stuff. Recently we have started collecting funny GIFs (animated images). Here are some of our favorites. Feel free to add links to other funny stuff.

Our Sympathies

Our friend Paul Odders broke his nose last night. He is probably going to need surgery to fix it. He was playing basketball and apparently ran face first into a metal pole. In case you were wondering, metal poles are not soft and don't have very much give. Take a look at the picture of the damage to Paul's face after the link (not for the faint of heart).

Concerts on Both Horizons

The benefit concert tonight for the Invisible Children went well.

We played "Live our Lives," "Eve of destruction (Written by Barry McGuire, but covered with a lot of our own stuff in it)" and "Stop the Bleeding."

We have started preparing for the battle of the bands on April 6th.

This has to be great for the Fishies

So, did you know that Chicago literally dyes the water green around Saint Patrick's Day? I guess that it's a peace of Lake Michigan, maybe, it's been a while since geography, I don't know.

Somebody just was showing me that, and I thought that it was pretty cool/weird.

All is Well

Hello, adoring fans worldwide.

We have been spending a lot of time in the studio. With a nice MAC G5, everything is up and running.

Today, we recorded all the drum tracks. It went remarkably well.

So, here is Eli, Josh's son, and a wonderful drummer.
Eli The Look Machine.jpg

Google Video is absolitely wonderful. This here is a lovely video off of there. It is of these Russian guys that are way more super than your averge super hero. the beginning of this film may be a little ghetto, but later on, it is very worth it.

Okay, that's all for now. It occurs to me that I have used a lot of happy adjectives in this post.

Have a lovely day.

hours and hours.

With the upcoming recording of the full length album, I have been practicing like mad.
Hours a day, I have been drumming in my basement.
Breaking many sticks,
Bleeding much blood,
And very tired of sitting on that stool.

I have now gotten a desk chair with a pillow on it to replace my throne.

This next monday, we will (tentatively) start recording...

We will be doing these songs:

Falling Behind
Stop The Bleeding
Live Our Lives
"White Light" (title to be changed)

So, I was thinking of a way to describe both my past and next few days of drumming.
This is what I came up with:
me (shane) : drums :: this dude : computer

Another video Update

Hello everyone.

Here is another video. It is quite funny, I think. (Ian is the wonder filmographer, filmer... camera man. whatever. he is the one responsible for capturing this timeless jewel on tape, or gigabytes or something...)

There may be another version with audio sometime soon on here.

Does anyone know any good free video uploading sites?

well, without further adieu, here be a picture link for this fantabulous video:

Everyone, an important update. Ian and Collin are out fishing in the bay ALL NIGHT on the pier! They just sent me this picture from collin's cell phone.
(They probably just borrowed someone else's fish for a quick picture. haha. I can say that because they're far away, and they will be too tired to beat me up tomorrow.)

This is way more fun than writing that essay...

Another Show Played!

We played this Saturday.

I think that we did well, although I don't really know. I could not hear a darn thing! I was behind the drum cage and heard only the one song when Ian played the keyboard which came through my monitor. Other than that, nothing...

I couldn't bring my own drums. It was horrible, I hate the drumset that I played. This is a thing that only maked sense to drummers.

I think that the other guys did really well though.

we will have more shows soon...
