I too have a thing for quotes
I confess, I am also one who loves a great quote. I love to read quote books, proverbs, sayings... whatever you like to call the cleverly and concicely phrases meant to teach and inspire. Here are some good ones...
"Whether you think you can oryou can't - you are right."...Henry Ford
"Most people ask for happiness on condition. Happiness can only be felt if you don't set any condition."...Arthur Rubinstein
"Never try to teach a pig to sing: it wastes your time and annoys the pig."...Paul Dickson

Susan's grandfather was great for quotes. Two of my favorites were:
"It wouldn't do if everyone was the same.... but some people are wackos!"
"If people want to wave the stars and bars.... I say let them"
The 2nd one was great, because he just blurted it out in the middle of dinner one night. It was completely random. :)
When I was a run boy I tried to teach a slug how to do tricks. I had grand visions of having a slug circus, and kids would come to see it. I spent the better part of the afternoon trying to teach that slug all sorts of tricks, but it just kinds of lay there uninterested. Finally, I took a break, and when I returned my older brother had covered it in salt. So, in honor of this moment, here is my quote.
"Never try to teach circus tricks to a slug. It'll be a waste of an afternoon and your brother will only end up killing it."
"When I was a young boy" not a "run boy" whatever that is. . .
