Jars of Clay
I went to see Jars of Clay tonight, a band that has been very inspirational to me in the past, but that I basically lost touch with musically after Much Afraid. I'll have to pick up some of their newer stuff, as they were excellent. They are just phenomenal musicians with very trustworthy spirits.
One thing that I find particularly admirable about them is a non-profit organization they have founded, Bloodwater Mission, with the goal of helping stem the AIDS epidemic in Africa. If you are inspired, contribute to the cause, I will be doing so. I think it's just outstanding when Christians follow the example of Christ and help bring healing to this world.
Last note: So I'm watching the show, having a good time, when all of sudden from the other side of the stage, a CD is thrown on stage. The bassist picks it up and hands it the lead guitarist. Hmm, I think, that looks vaguely familiar. Sure enough, it's a genuine bona-fide Look Machine CD, someone has given it to the Jars. . . The guitarist takes it off stage and puts it somewhere. Wonder if he listens to it? Kind of embarassing, but also kind of cool.

Hey man, how was the show? I could have gone, basically for free because somebody bought too many tickets. However, I didn't find out untill right before, and I had a bunch of school to get done. Was it cool? I love the grand opera house. I would go and see just about anybody there. And believe me! That is a true statement. I have been there to see a concert pianist, a sleezy gross french opera, a New Oreleans Jazz Band... you get the idea.
It's a dream of mine to play there! The everett is similar, I think, but before we become old and dead and broken up we should somehow get ourselves a show there.
u put it there? neway it was that rox!!!!!!!!! i love that song..... love song for a Savior... i think it'd be fun to sing
I didn't put the CD there! I wasn't sure who did actually!
They played Love Song for a Savior and it was very good. That and Flood were the only songs they played from their first album, unfortunately, and Frail was ALL that they played from Much Afraid. Oh Well.
Hm... Don't know who would have tossed The Look Machine's If I knew What To Say--Green Leaf to Matt from seat g-7... no idea whatsoever... :) OK, maybe I know someone who knows someone who threw it up there... Just know this All you Look-Machiners who are angry and up in arms about your three bucks; Ian gave me permission to give it to them.
i also lost touch with them after much affraid. That was one of my favorite albums for some time. I still bust it out every now and then.
Glad to see they are still kicking it old skool style
I haven't listened to Jars of Clay since college. Those were good times. I am excited to hear that they have chosen the AIDS epidemic in Africa as a human cause to highlight. I was so overwhelmed by the sheer extent of the need that exists in the African countries under the scourge of AIDS. There is so much that we can do to bring comfort to the world that it can become overwhelming unless we focus on stuff that is real to us. For me, the AIDS crisis is a very real issue that I have a personal passion about.
