Things that I love which the average person does not appreciate

I was just thinking, there are a whole lot of things that I love that aren't appreciated near enough, so I thought I'd list some and share the bliss. In no particular order.

Really Raw Honey. You can get it at natural food stores. It's hard to describe how good it is. It's totally free of processing or heating, so it still has bits of honey comb in it. It's almost a solid, you spread it on bread and stuff like that. It's delicious.
Apple computer's iSight It's this perfectly designed camera and microphone which allows you to videoconference anyone around the world. For free. It's really amazing. I also adore the iPod, but there are many others who like it too, so it can't join this list.
Judge Mathis I've already said enough about this, but he does deserve another mention.
The smell of a skunk I don't know, there is just something that I really like about it.
Staying up till the wee hours of the night This is a world for early risers, and I'm not a member of that club (at least willingly. I love the hours between 11 pm and 3 am for creativity. No disturbances, you can just get completely absorbed in projects. I know people say that about, say, the hours between 6 am and 9 am, but I'm just so darn tired then!
Having a fire pit in your backyard and a fireplace in your house I had no idea how much of a fire lover I was, but now I basically view everything in terms of how well it would burn and sustain a cozy fire. I love junk mail now, it's kindling for the fire of the day.
Learning something new For a very young person, learning is an hourly occurence. As you get older, the rate starts to slow down. Unless you work at it. When you reach a certain age (post college), you can literally go months without learning anything. So I seek out things to learn. And I love learning something new.
Spinning around until you get dizzy Actually it's more fun to do with another person. You both spin around about 30-60 times and then attempt to run towards each other. Good times.
Having a good magazine or an unread newspaper, getting a muffin, and just reading a little.
The feeling you have before you get into bed when you're reading an excellent book

There are more but that's enough for now. You have any?

Hmmm..

I love Rooibos tea. It's from south africa, comes in two varietals-- green and red. It's naturally caffiene free, and doesn't have any Tannins, so it never gets bitter like standard tea if you brewed it too long.

You can get really high quality flavors from Upton Tea Imports. (http://www.uptontea.com/) I like Poire Cream, Apple Cider and Earl Grey. With a touch of honey, it's quite nice. (you can get $1 sample packs of each type they sell)

And just with a touch of honey, it doesn't need much.

Health note: Since honey cannot be heat-pasteurized, it can harbor the botulisnum spore. The spore is inhibited from growing in environments of high acidity. The acidity of an infant's digestive system is not high enough to prevent the growth of the spore. By the time a baby is one year old, stomach acidity has risen closer to that of an adults. If you have an active ulcer, in extreme cases, spores can bypass your stomach acid and go directly to your blood stream.

:) Man, sounded horrible..

Raw honey is really stinking good..
I took a bee keeping class at UD and we got to try some of the honey from our bees..

in fact given your new rural location, maybe you can get your own bees

Yeah, Jase, it's perfect! You already have the firepit, so you have plenty of smoke for when you get the honey from the bees. And I'm sure this is a great way to get your neighbors to let you in their pool!

you know what else is cool? Having to wear scrubs to work even though I'm not sure why I have to wear them cause I am a counselor. My friend and I make fun of each other all day and I buzz her and say stuff like, "I need a stapler...stat" and "I need 2 c.c.'s of post'ITs" cause she is the receptionist but she wears scrubs too. and hahaha it is just sooooo funny. I guess maybe you would have to be me or her to think it is funny. But if you are interested in more stories of hilarity call my office and ask for Dr. Pepper.

All this talk of lists has got me wondering when Collin is going to come out with another installment of his list of interesting things he's done.

Here are some things I enjoy quite a lot"

A faint smell of cow manure, swimming in cold water, pulling ticks out of my skin, driving in heavy traffic that is moving way too fast, eating asparagus, sleeping with my windows open in the winter, eating my own boogers (Laura talked me into giving that delightful habit up), feeling like I am falling, actually falling from time to time, and driving with no music on.

Skunks and cow manure? Count me as one of the people that don't appreciate those things... Heh...

I like sleeping with the windows open in the winter AND the fan on. I like walking around outside late at night when everyone else is asleep. I like getting rained on. I like WaWa chocolate milk and egg nog (finally back in stores!!!). I like turning my high beams on when the person coming at me forgets to turn theirs off. I like the fact that I don't know of anyone, friend, expert, anyone, that has a better record than me this year in picking NFL games.

I'm also a big fan of lying motionless on a bed or couch while listening to an awesome song over and over through headphones.

Hmm.. Jason likes skunk.. Ian likes cow manure.. Um. Collin - What do you and Elijiah like?

So did you know there's an official 'hierarchy of stench' with manure? It goes Horse > Cow > Chicken > Pig. Pig is THE nastiest, more disgusting fouling of the air.

Have you noticed that this list has turned from a 'things I enjoy' to a 'I'm grosser than you are?' (Ian get your finger out of your nose)

I like standing outside and watching the sky just before a big storm, when the sky gets real dark and it starts getting really windy and the torrential downpour begins.

I like driving fast late at night.

I like being in an unfamiliar town enough that it becomes familiar and it's like you get to see two different worlds. One at home and one in the far away town that you frequent, maybe like Kingston, NY.

I like playing HALO. I like it a lot.

I like the feeling of completion. Of being done something, entirely. I even like being done a day, and going to bed having completed everything I needed to, what a distant and beautiful dream that is!

I think that you are mistaken. This post is about things that you can love that the average person does not. The gross things I said I love are weird, but I do enjoy them and you (in this istance, "the average person") does not. Not only do I love these things, I love them for specific and thought out reasons. I love a faint smell of cow manure because it reminds me of the country and open farm land. It makes me think of all the times I have driven through lancaster county, and all of the times driving down appleton road as the sun set over the fords old farm. I liked eating my boogers for several reasons. First, it was an easy way to get an amazingly funny reaction out of just about anybody (yes, that translates "I did it for the attention.") Second, it made me feel incredibly free from all of our oppressive social norms. I knew that normalcy and everyday life could not hold me down and make me conform. Enough said, I don't see you but I know that you are all really grossed out. Sorry, I like some wierd stuff.

I like really boring House Hunting shows on the Home and Garden Network. I actually LOVE homes in general, I think I should be a real estate tycoon. Especially old unique homes. I'm not sure when it happened, but I just love them.

I sleep, Collin. Sometimes. Other times I don't. That's when I'm awake. So I sleep when I'm not awake. Glad I could clear that up for you.

I like daydreaming.

Ian, I'm not disagreeing with your point about the cow manure.. but you cannot convince me that PICKING BOOGERS AND EATING THEM was not just plain gross.

Jason! Quick, I need you to record the date and time that someone called me an 'average person.' That's historic!

The thing I hate the most that an average woman likes is heavy perfume. Especially at restaurants. I can't even taste or smell my dish. I usually make a fuss at the restaurant and usually win too.

I think whoever wears tons of perfume is a very dizzy person, their brain cells are destroyed and they lost their sense of smell. Also I think the heavy perfume wearer never baths, uses it to cover up the stink.

Am I right about this??

YOu are more right than you know. I am NOT a fan of heavy perfume or cologne.
