Kind of proud of my new deadly beast icons

Yesterday I got a new hard drive. I'm working on more and more video and photo stuff and it chews up hard drive space. (Side note, as of the end of this week I will actually have a tetrabyte of storage. Nice and geeky.)

Anyway, I didn't reallly like the icon my new hard drive had. It looked like a nuclear meltdown symbel of something. And I thought, "I should find some deadly beast icons."

Yes, I am fascinated with animals that can consume me. And I wanted my hard drives named after them.

But search and search I did, to no avail. Nothing.

So I made my own.

I'm pretty happy with them.

So now one of my hard drives is called Gator and the other Raptor. What do you think I should name the 400 GB monster that is coming later this week? I've been suggested an Anaconda, which I like.

I had to go and download icon factory software (I didn't register yet so I don't think it's a full version) and it's a filter on photoshop. Then I had no idea what I was really doing, but I fumbled through and kind of figured out the software. Then I saved it as an icon. Then I right-clicked on the icon I had created and chose to "get info," and then selected the icon in that window and control-c to copy. Then I did "get info" on the hard drive I wanted to change and control-v on the icon in the window. . . viola, it replaced it with the icon I made.

It's still not perfect, looks good on the desktop but when I'm browsing the icons don't scale down so they get cut off on the corners.

Gator.
Raptor.
Shane.
Jason, you know I could easily consume you. (joke) but "Shane" is still a great name. for a hard drive.

On my old computer I had a little program that let you easily switch the graphics that came up when you started up or shut down your computer. I thought I was the man because of that program. And then there was my skill at hacking Close Combat 2.

As the resident Snake Man, I will eat you if you don't name the next one Anaconda. I will eat you. For 20 minutes. Fully clothed. Do not doubt me.

Haha Wait maybe you should name it Shane...not. I think Anaconda is a great name. Btw shane is 16 and dont lie lolz. Happy bday btw although i said it too many times already! To celebrate, maybe you should visit the jungle and see who is truly the bigger beast. Shane or an anaconda....hmmmm its very hard to pick who would win. Ok i put my money on the anaconda *grins* heh. Anyways cool names for your drives. And have fun Ian!

From looking at the screenshot you provided I would say that "Macintosh HD" is not quite a beastly enough name to go with such a fierce animal. I would rename it Megladon!

How-about "Trogdor The Burninator"? Of all the massive Jason-devouring beasts in the world, he is the MOST jason-devouringEST!

The problem with that suggestion is that Trogdor is invisible.

Jason,
Trogdor is just as real as um, I don't know, but something that's really real.

He'll probably burninate you for your unbelief! search for him on google.

The scariest thing about Trogdor is the three thin strands of hair that grow out of the tip of each of his wings.

Since 1991, all hard drives are manufactured with the generic name “From Pittsburgh to Lebanon”, in reference to the Butthole Surfers song by the same name. This journey would be a quite a hard drive indeed. When installed at the assembly plant, they are renamed things like Macintosh Hard Drive.

I have to say that is very interesting but I could find one reference to it through google. What's your source?
