P.S. I think if they put the feeding tube back, Clint Eastwood will come in one night and inject her with enough adrenaline to kill a horse.
honestly i think they should put the tube back in, it shows a lack of faith. That there is nothing left for them to do and it makes me wonder if the husband wants what she wanted to do or if he wants freedom from having the burden of taking care of her and paying for her medical attention...
but hey i don't know the situation i just feel that no one has the right to play GOD even if the persons circumstances seem to be at the point of being mentally retarded... everyone has the right to live... How many people have prayed for her? i know i haven't but now i will say a prayer for her healing for god's will should be the only thing to take her life.. but that is my opinion...

Are they playing God by taking the feeding tube out or are they playing God by putting the feeding tube in? If this had happened 100 years ago we wouldn't even be having this conversation because she would have died right after her stroke (that was self induced by anorexia). 100 years ago God's will would have been carried out by having Terri die. I'm not trying to say that we shouldn't try to prolong people's lives by using new technologies, I'm just stating that I think it's a stretch to say that they are playing God by taking OUT her feeding tube.
I think in cases like this the victim's wishes should always be carried out. It's a shame no one close to her can agree on what Terri's wishes were. Considering her self destructive behavior, I would venture to guess that she would rather die then live life in a vegetative state. That's just a wild guess though.
David, (agreeing with you here) i believe that god gave us the the knowledge to discover certain things, like advance in research. by that i mean that a feeding tube has helping millions of people in some way or the other. they aren't just used for people in the in the veggitative state.
I disagree with you that people should have a choice whether they choose to live or die, i think that its God's will he has plans for us, plans to prospure(sp?) us and to give us hope and a future, and that through him is where we should find all of our needs.
do you really think that putting in a feeding tube is the same as taking it out for her to die? A 100 yrs ago we didn't have computers, so we really wouldn't be having this conversation... Basically, what i meant by "i just feel that no one has the right to play God" is that i feel that it isn't right it is totally a personal thing but i feel that it is killing a life.. and that no one should have the right to take it out, you never know if God wanted her a live to touch someones life? or even to be healed, i don't know i just feel its wrong...(can you tell haha)

Good points. I still disagree with you about having a choice about taking out the feeding tube :0). If someone is in a vegetative state and has a living will that says they do not want assistance in that instance then I think that they should not be forced to have a feeding tube or other life support. I do not think this is a sin against God, it is simply personel preference. God's will can be fulfilled in death just as it can be fulfilled in life.
The main problem with Terri's case is that the people closest to her can't agree on what her wishes were. My personel opinion is that if her parents really want to take care of her then her husband should let them. Why does he want her to die so bad? It really puts a lot of suspicion on his motives and gives some support to the rumors that maybe he choked her in the first place and now is just trying to finish the job. I guess those are probably just wild rumors, but still, it makes you think about why he is fighting this so hard.
And no I don't think taking out a feeding tube and letting someone die is the same as putting one in. I was just trying to say that I do not think they are playing God by taking it out. God has the power to sustain the victim just as he has the power to let them die.

First of all, Terri is not in a vegetative state. She resonds to various stimuli and her doctors say that if she would have been allowed therapy she would be even more responsive. Secondly, Terri's condition was not "self induced". Granted her chemical imbalance was brought on by her BULIMIA, but thousands of people are bulimic for years and years and never have this happen to them. The real point is, yes she may have died right after this happened...But they didn't... and taking out a feeding tube and letting her starve to death is an incredibly painful experience (and doctors say that she does feel pain).Her parents are willing to give her all that she needs...if her husband will simply divorce her. Hmm, it is just so strange to me that he has two kids with another women...yet, apparently cares so much about Terri.

Here is what I think. Regaurdless if if Terri is alive or dead mentally, I think the tube should stay in. For real, like mers pointed out, her parents want her alive. Why should the dude have to kill her? It just doesn't make sense.

Personally i think it wasn't right to take away the feeding tube. it was in humane. i think that terri's husband didn't want the responsibility or the medical bills. taking her life was a permanent solution to her problem. there is also advances in medicine every day.. but now her second chance to live is gone. and i agree with "no one has the right to play god" by giving her the feeding tube it was giving her a second chance incase anything else came along. it was cruel the way she had to die... there was more suffering there. there was no compassion at all. Basically why would terris husband want the responsibilty of terri when he had a new life, and two children with another women. i dont no a lot about this case of euthanasia but we are learing about it in school right now. aand takin the feeding tube away is the most cruel thing i have ever heard of. and as for snake man, u have no right to leave a comment like that. i hope u suffer like terri did.

How do we know she is going to heaven? Just becasue she starved her self to death why should she go to heaven? Who is playing God? She was playing God before she went to the hospital. She was destructive to her own body. Sarge where in scripture does it say that we should keep feed her. We are sho far removed from the situation we have no idea what her husband or family feels.
