To be honest, I'm going to miss Mitch Hedburg a lot more than the pope.

"When you go to a restaurant on the weekends and it's busy they start a waiting list. They start calling out names, they say
"Dufresne, party of two. Dufresne, party of two." And if no one answers they'll say their name again. "Dufresne, party of two, Dufresne, party of two." But then if no one answers they'll just go right on to the next name. "Bush, party of three."

Yeah, what happened to the Dufresnes? Who can eat at a time like this - people are missing. You bastards are selfish... the Dufresnes are in someone's trunk right now, with duct tape over their mouths. And they're hungry. That's a double whammy.

"Bush, search party of three, you can eat when you find the Dufranes."

Yeah, I had to edit it a little for the "family-friendly" Look Machine Blog.

agreed.. i think he was a realy cool pope as well..
one thing that is quasi-annoying me is when i hear all of these polls saying what they want the new pope to do.. approve women priests, allow priests to marry, ease catholic restrictions on birth control..
it totally misses the point of what the pope is.. he is not a politician making promises to the people, he is supposed to be God's spokesman on earth..not a guy who just changes rules and practices based on the current whims of the people

I think it's sad that he died, but to be quiet honest, I am relieved. He (along with Terry Shivo) was taking up more than his fair share of news time. Also, I think that the Cotholic church needs a healthy person in charch of it. It will be a good thing to have someone a bit more spunkey in charge of things now.

I don't think it's tragic when a very old man dies of natural causes after a long and meaningful life. It is a blessing, not an evil.

I was touched by how many people were showing up to pray for him then to attend his funeral. People apparently really cared about him.
