First Draft Completed
You will all be thrilled to know that as of 1.47 AM EST I have finished my first draft of (working title): The Black Death. Weighing in at 106 pages, I think it's pretty good, but I better read through it to make sure.
Random musings from the rock group the Look Machine. We're trying to make it big. Observe if you'd like.

Congratulations! I would love to read it!
Alright, here's the big question:
Q. Am I in it?
A. Yes, you're the main character.
B. Yes, you're the comedic relief.
C. No, it's a terrible script.
D. Go to Hell.
Good job Jason!
congrats homie. that is really impressive. the ending is the hardest part, begining is easy. can i read it? do you generaly do rewrites? pretty cool josh
I had the mantra "there is no good writing, only good rewriting" pounded into my head in class, so I imagine I will be doing some rewrites. Actually, the idea of a rewrite helps you get through the first draft, you don't get stuck for too long on a part looking for perfection. . . you can just think, "I'll fix it in the rewrite if it doesn't work."
I know about the endings, everyone is always looking for a good 3rd Act that doesn't seem contrived or forced. Fortunately I think the ending for this story works perfectly. Like everything fits.
Everyone who wants to read it, let me know via email and I'll send a copy of it. I just want to weed through the inevitable typos first.
Snake Man -
I haven't yet developed as a writer enough to do justice to a Snake Man Centered Screenplay. (Otherwise known as the SMCS).
The SMCS is really the kind of project that an accomplished writer should attempt only at this pinnacle of a great career. I think I need to write at least another 15 scripts before I can even work on an outline.
Well that's... Hold on, my BS detector seems to be going off for some reason.
Probably the most well known and successful example of the SMCS was Forrest Gump, right?
Now that's funny.
There are others. Mask. The Elephant Man. And Rain Man.
Could I just say, way to go Jason! It's a cool movie. A very original, intruiging idea. Well written.
Forrest Gump? Rain Man? Pshhht.
The truth is that no SMCS has ever made it to the big screen. However, several SMOCS (Snake Man Off-Centered Screenplays) have been fairly successful. Most notably Orange County (Jack Black's character), High Fidelity (Jack Black's character) and Animal House (John Belushi's character).
Then you have Super Troopers...
"Say Car Ramrod"
Jase--that's awesome! I would love to read it, if you want to send it...though, I hardly ever have access to a computer, so maybe a hard copy at some point would be a better idea. But, way to go--I can't wait to read it eventually!
